Mobile Molecular Testing Laboratory Makes Boston Debut at Military Trade Show
Four-hundred military personnel expected at annual conference
February 26, 2007, Boston, Massachusetts — The Mobile Molecular Testing Laboratory (MMTL®) will be on display this week at the Society of Armed Forces Medical Laboratory Scientists (SAFMLS) annual trade show in Boston, MA.
The SAFMLS annual meeting for 2007 is taking place at the Sheraton Boston Hotel and the adjacent Hynes Convention Center. The meeting provides training for members and participants as well as a trade show where vendors will display their product lines to over 400 military scientific personnel.
The MMTL made its trek from San Antonio, Texas, where it had been stationed at Brooks City Base for evaluation. “It promises to be the most exciting venue to showcase the MMTL, which will be the only mobile lab on display at this conference. It’s a great opportunity for the military to see the best and safest mobile laboratory technology product in the market,” said Paul Grewal, Chief Operating Officer of Vital Probes, Inc.
The MMTL is a completely deployable 39 foot vehicle that contains Biosafety Level 2
and 3 (BSL-2 & BSL-3) zones and advanced technology for the handling of biological agents and pathogens of military significance. The MMTL was built in response to a pivotal problem faced by armed forces and emergency response personnel: the transfer of suspect biological agents to approved testing laboratories.
The SAFMLS Conference takes place from Monday, February 26 to Thursday, March 1. The MMTL will be on display at the Hynes Conventions Center on Tuesday, February 27 from 12:30pm - 5:00pm and Wednesday, February 28 from 9:30am - 1:00pm. Vital Probes’ representatives will be available for guided tours of the vehicle.
